Oz Biz Aboriginal Art And Craft Gallery

Oz Biz Aboriginal Art And Craft Gallery has been buying and selling high end Aboriginal Fine Arts since 1994.

“After wholesaling works, I discovered the aboriginal art market was saturated with galleries carrying the work of mainstream artists, so I was looking for something new, fresh and different,” explained the owner of Oz Biz Aboriginal Art And Craft Gallery

“I looked at about 110 aboriginal community art groups and selected 8 that I wanted to work with. These groups would add diversity to the portfolio of artist represented in my studio.”

“Many of the artists represented at Oz Biz Aboriginal Art And Craft Gallery could be said to be reshaping our ideas surrounding Aboriginal art. Like any culture, Aboriginal culture is continuously in a state of renewal.”

The collection tells stories of Aboriginal history, of personal experiences and of events and beliefs that shaped the lives of individuals and their societies. The power of such academic collections to inform our understanding of the lives and cultures of the artist and their communities is apparent. Take for example the stylistic diversity revealed in the various communities themselves.

“While many people associate Aboriginal art with dot paintings, the more diverse styles that you see in Oz Biz Aboriginal Art And Craft Gallery reflect this dynamic shift. The departure from automated mass produced styles currently seen in glorified souvenirs shops, introducing an authentic & academic approach, has put aboriginal art on the map. As such, it has become one of the most collectable artforms in the world today.

Nowadays we even see various ‘art movements’ developing within the aboriginal art industry, demonstrating how society or culture chooses to represent itself within the contemporary world. The gallery is dedicated to showcasing work for art lovers, not for those looking for a souvenir. The artwork is the most cutting edge work available within the industry representing Culture Now!
