Monica Napaltjarri is a well respected artist and Pintupi lady living at Kintore in the Western Desert of the Northern Territory. Monica was born in 1960 at Kiwirrkurra, west of Alice Springs. She is married to Kenny Lilas & related to Yakarri and Payu West and started painting with Papunya Tula Arts movement in the 1970’s and her work is highly sought after worldwide.
Monica paints with precision dotting, yet loose flow showing care and integrity to her artistic merits. Her stories are related to women’s dreamings for her grandfather’s and grandmother’s country around Kiwirrkurra, including Patinya soakage and her father’s rock hole site of Karilwara.
