Yinarupa Nangala is one of Australia’s leading indigenous artist. Taking out the most prestigious art award in 2009 winning the 26th National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award in Darwin. She is the daughter of famous artist Anatjari Tjampitjinpa (deceased) and has been painting since the late 90’s. Her sister Mantua Nangala, and her brother Ray James Tjangala also paint for Papunya Tula Artists. She lives in Kiwirrikurra. A highly collectable artist; Yinarupa stories relate mainly to women’s stories. Her artworks are sought after by collectors and she has also exhibited her work internationally winning several awards.
